PCM Agency in Massachusetts

Care Remedy is a MassHealth Personal Care Management (PCM) agency. We help MassHealth members enroll in the PCA program, get the hours they need approved, and hire, train and manage their own personal care attendants. You stay in charge of your care. We do the paperwork and guide every step.

What does a PCM agency do?

The PCA program pays for a personal care attendant you choose, even a friend or relative in many cases. A PCM agency is the support around you. We:

  • Check that you qualify and explain how the program works
  • Complete the nursing and occupational therapy evaluation of the help you need
  • Submit the request for PCA hours to MassHealth for approval
  • Train you, or your surrogate, to hire, schedule and supervise your PCAs
  • Help with timesheets, hour changes, reevaluations and appeals

Your PCAs work for you, not for Care Remedy. That is what makes the program consumer directed.

Who qualifies for the MassHealth PCA program?

  • You have MassHealth Standard or CommonHealth
  • You have a permanent or chronic disability
  • You need hands-on physical help with at least two daily activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, mobility or taking medication
  • Your doctor or nurse practitioner authorizes the service

Not sure? Call us and we will walk through it with you. What makes someone ineligible.

What does the PCA program cover, and what does it not?

PCA time covers hands-on help with daily activities, and in some cases meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping and medical transportation. It does not cover supervision on its own, babysitting, socializing or cueing without hands-on help.

Can I switch my PCM agency to Care Remedy?

Yes. In most cases you keep your PCAs, and we coordinate the change with MassHealth and your current agency. Request a transfer.

I am a case manager or clinician. How do I refer?

Use our online referral form, email pcm@careremedy.com or call 781-957-8076.
